I first met Tim in 1999 on a RSCM Cathedral course in York in 1999. I remember the first time I saw Tim, he was sitting opposite me at the first rehearsal of the course. Someone sitting next to me asked “who is the new guy?”, “don’t know but he looks just like Penfold from Danger Mouse” was the response and that was it, the name stuck. For me and many who sang with Tim during those courses, he will always be known as Penfold! There are so many memories from summer Cathedral courses in Canterbury, York and Durham. • Filling people’s shoes with shaving foam. • Tim cooking us all breakfast for 2 weeks during the Canterbury course as the catering wasn’t up to scratch. As we shared a room, the only problem was getting woken up early every morning by Penfold going to the kitchen! • Getting the hand from Gordon for singing too loud. It was an honour to be one of the ushers at Tim and Jane’s wedding. Your love for each other was so clear to see. My main memory from that day was when after the ceremony I had the honour of following you both whilst you had photographs taken around the back of the Cathedral. I had an umbrella in one hand and the train of Jane’s dress in the other. The moments with you after the ceremony when there was small group of us and we could see how happy you both were will stay with me for a long time.
